Your platform writes the copy. Clione does the rest of the job.

Shopify and BigCommerce now write product copy with AI from inside the admin. Use them. Clione works alongside them: it enriches categories and pages as well as products, publishes the structured data, keeps the last three versions and reads the live page to tell you what rendered.

Who does what

Two jobs, one catalog.

The platform's tool

Copy in the native fields

BigCommerce Catalog Enrichment writes the product name, description, meta description and page title, and adds an AI snippet and two sets of questions as custom fields. Shopify Magic drafts a product description from a few keywords.

Clione

The signals machines read, checked on the page

Enrichment for products, categories or collections and content pages, a JSON-LD graph on every product page, FAQs across the catalog, versions with restore, and a check of the live page after every push.

BigCommerce Catalog Enrichment

On BigCommerce, Clione is the layer around it.

Catalog Enrichment is a paid beta in the BigCommerce control panel, announced on 29 September 2026, for some stores. It is good at what it does. These are the places Clione adds to it.

Undo

A way back

BigCommerce's own FAQ says applying overwrites existing values permanently, and suggests a backup first. Clione keeps the last three versions of every entity and restores any of them.

Scale

The whole catalog, not in batches of 250

Catalog Enrichment applies up to 250 products at a time. Clione enriches the catalog in bulk, and categories and content pages with it.

The page

Proof it rendered

The three AI fields are custom fields, so whether they show depends on your theme. Clione publishes through the Widget API, server-side, and reads the live page back.

Overwrites

Who wrote last

If both tools write the same native field, the last write wins. Clione's next sync names the field that changed after its push, and the date.

Shopify Magic and Shopify's AI

On Shopify, it writes the description. Clione writes what sits around it.

Shopify Magic is free in the admin and drafts a description from the keywords you give it. Shopify's own AI also reads your catalog to put products in ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot.

Structured data

A graph on every product page

Stored in metafields and printed by two app embeds you switch on in one click.

Questions

FAQs for the whole catalog

Generated or imported, shown on the page by the Clione FAQ embed.

What Shopify's AI reads →
Before you connect

What people ask about running both.

Do I have to choose between Catalog Enrichment and Clione?

No. They are complementary. Run the platform's tool for the copy if you like it, and Clione for the rest of the store's signals and the check on the page.

What happens if both write the meta description?

The last write wins, as with any two tools writing the same field. Clione notices on its next sync and tells you which field changed and when, so you decide which version stays.

Does Clione integrate with Catalog Enrichment or Shopify Magic?

No. It works alongside them on the same catalog. Each one writes through the platform; neither calls the other.
