Clione vs Profound. One measures what AI says about you, the other changes what it reads.
Profound tracks how answer engines mention and cite your brand, across more of them than anyone, with agents to act on what it finds. Clione writes the signals AI assistants read into your store, publishes them through your platform and checks the live page. If you need the measurement, start there. If you need the catalog fixed, start here.

The verdict
Pick Profound if the question is how AI search sees your brand, everywhere it can be asked. It has the backing to match: a $180M Series D at a $1.8B valuation in September 2026 and more than 2,500 brands on it, from Walmart and Estee Lauder to Figma. It tracks up to nine answer engines, follows individual SKUs in ChatGPT Shopping, and gives a marketing team agents to work from what it finds.
Pick Clione if the question is what to change in the catalog so that assistants can read it and recommend it. Clione enriches every product, category and page, writes the structured data, the FAQs and the meta, publishes them through your platform's own API and then reads the live page to tell you what actually rendered.
A page for the bots, or the page itself
Profound's newest answer to a page that AI crawlers read badly is Dynamic Bot Rendering: it serves AI bots a separate, fully rendered copy of the pages you pick, from the CDN, while the page people see stays exactly as it was and nothing in the CMS changes.
Clione works one layer down. It writes the missing product data into Shopify, BigCommerce or WooCommerce, and the store renders it on the server, so the same page reaches the shopper, the search engine and the assistant. When Profound shows that you lose a question, somebody still has to change the data on hundreds of product pages. That is the part Clione does.
Where Profound is stronger
- Breadth of measurement. Up to nine answer engines on Enterprise, among them ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and Google AI Overviews. Clione asks ChatGPT and Gemini, and does not pretend otherwise.
- Shopping, SKU by SKU. Its Shopping analysis tracks individual SKUs in ChatGPT Shopping and captures the whole answer: tiles, images, prices, merchant links.
- Agent traffic. On Shopify it reads AI crawler visits from server logs, through a reverse proxy, and ties AI visits to revenue over time.
- Scale. Customers like Walmart, Estee Lauder and Royal Bank of Canada, a plan for agencies, and the funding to keep shipping. Large brands reasonably weigh that.
Where Clione is different
- It writes into the store. A JSON-LD graph on every product page, FAQs across the catalog, keywords, meta titles and descriptions, published through the platform's own API, server-rendered.
- It checks the page. After each push Clione fetches the live page and reports what rendered against what it pushed, and warns when a PIM or the platform overwrites a field it wrote.
- It closes its own loop. For each hero product it shows the attributes ChatGPT and Gemini quoted for the competitor that won, and one click adds them to the next enrichment.
- It sends the catalog where shopping agents read it. A fresh feed to ChatGPT shopping every day, and a supplemental feed to Google Merchant Center.
- It is built for catalogs, and for agencies. Profound's public pricing now shows a free trial and a custom Enterprise plan. Clione is made for stores whose problem is the catalog itself, and for the agencies that run many of them from one dashboard.

What people ask when they weigh both.
Can I use both?
Yes, and for a large catalog it is a sensible pair. Profound tells you which questions you lose and to whom, across many engines. Clione changes the product data those engines read, in your store, and checks the live page afterwards. One is the scoreboard, the other is the training.
Does Clione measure as many assistants as Profound?
No. Clione asks ChatGPT and Gemini, and shows who replaces you when they stop recommending you. Profound tracks up to nine answer engines on its Enterprise plan. If breadth of measurement is the job, Profound does more of it.
Does Profound change my product pages?
Its Dynamic Bot Rendering serves AI bots a fully rendered copy of the pages you choose, at the CDN, without changing your CMS or what people see. Clione writes into the store itself, so the page a shopper, a search engine and an assistant read is the same page.
