Clione vs Wildcard. A campaign across the AI shopping web, or the catalog done properly.

Wildcard tracks what AI shopping assistants say, Walmart's and Amazon's included, turns every gap into drafted work, from product data to Reddit and press, and measures the revenue. Clione does the catalog: it enriches every product, category and page, publishes through your platform and reads the live page back. If you want a campaign on and off your site, look at Wildcard. If the catalog is the job, start here.

The verdict

Pick Wildcard if you want to show up wherever AI shopping happens, retail agents included, with work that reaches beyond your own site. Wildcard tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Claude, Walmart Sparky and Alexa+ Shopping, turns every gap into a roadmap and drafts the work: enriched product data, collection pages, blogs, press outreach, Reddit and YouTube.

Pick Clione if the catalog is the job and it is a large one. Clione enriches every product, category, collection and content page, one at a time, in batches or across the whole catalog, publishes the signals through your platform's own API when you press Push, and then reads the live page to tell you what rendered.

Off the site, too

Wildcard does not stop at the store. Reddit, press and YouTube are part of the plan, and its tracking reaches the assistants inside Walmart and Amazon, with Amazon Rufus in beta. If the gap is that nobody talks about your brand, that is the right lever, and Clione does not pull it.

Clione's lever is the page. What assistants read on your own store, the structured data, the FAQs, the descriptions and the reasoning behind each product, written for the whole catalog and checked after it goes live.

Where Wildcard is stronger

  • Retail agents and more surfaces. Walmart Sparky and Alexa+ Shopping among seven surfaces, with Amazon Rufus in beta. Clione measures ChatGPT and Gemini.
  • Work beyond your site. Press outreach, Reddit and YouTube, drafted for approval.
  • Named customers with case studies. Dosaze, Gainful and Eric Javits among them, and a Y Combinator W25 company behind it.
  • A free trial. Fourteen days on the Basic plan, with public prices. During the beta, a person at Clione opens your account.

Where Clione is different

  • Built for the whole catalog. Wildcard's Basic plan includes 20 products, with more added at a price per product. Clione enriches one entity, a batch or the catalog from one click.
  • It publishes on every platform it names. The BigCommerce Widget API, Shopify metafields with app embeds, and the Clione plugin on WooCommerce, all rendered on the server. Wildcard's integrations page lists "custom publishing paths" for BigCommerce without describing them; for WooCommerce, how it publishes is not documented.
  • It checks the page. After each push Clione fetches the live page and reports what rendered against what it pushed, and warns when a PIM or the platform overwrites a field it wrote.
  • It covers categories and pages too. Products, categories or collections, and content pages, each with enrichment, FAQs, publish and verify.

Before you choose

What people ask when they weigh both.

Can I use both?

Yes, and the split is natural: Wildcard for the work off your site and the retail agents, Clione for what your own store publishes. If Wildcard rewrites a field Clione pushed, Clione's next sync names the field and the date.

How does each one price a large catalog?

Wildcard's Basic plan includes a set number of products, with more added per product on top. Clione prints no prices during the beta; on a call we will tell you what your catalog would need.

Which platforms does each one work on?

Clione works on Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce, and on headless storefronts set up with your developers. Wildcard lists Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and PIMs such as Akeneo and Salsify as sources, and has a Shopify app that writes to product metafields.
