First what is sold, then what is said about it, and last what is done with the data: by the time you reach enrichment, you will know what you are enriching. The path has five stretches.

1. **Steps 1 to 6 · What is sold and where it is shown.** The [product page](/glossary/product-page/) and its technical name, the [PDP](/glossary/pdp/), set against the pages that list several products: the [PLP](/glossary/plp/), the [category page](/glossary/category-page/) and the [Shopify collection](/glossary/shopify-collection/). It closes with the [product catalog](/glossary/product-catalog/), the set everything above comes from.
2. **Steps 7 to 9 · How a product is described.** [Attributes](/glossary/product-attributes/) are what each product is, [variants](/glossary/product-variants/) are its versions and the [taxonomy](/glossary/product-taxonomy/) is the tree that sorts them. Attributes come first because variants are defined by them.
3. **Steps 10 to 17 · What the product page says.** The text and data the buyer sees and machines read: the [description](/glossary/product-description/), the [alt text](/glossary/alt-text/) of the images, the [meta title](/glossary/meta-title/) and the [meta description](/glossary/meta-description/), the [price and availability](/glossary/price-and-availability/) signals, the [return policy](/glossary/return-policy/), the [reviews](/glossary/product-reviews/) and [user-generated content (UGC)](/glossary/ugc/).
4. **Steps 18 to 23 · From data to AI.** Where the data comes from and where it goes: the [PIM](/glossary/pim/), the [product feed](/glossary/product-feed/) and [Google Merchant Center](/glossary/google-merchant-center/). Then the work that ties them together: [catalog enrichment](/glossary/catalog-enrichment/), [semantic enrichment](/glossary/semantic-enrichment/) and the [AI-ready product page](/glossary/ai-ready-product-page/), which is the goal of both.
5. **Steps 24 to 26 · Going deeper.** [Ecommerce SEO](/glossary/ecommerce-seo/), which applies everything above to search engines, and two terms from selling to businesses, [B2B ecommerce](/glossary/b2b-ecommerce/) and the [B2B price list](/glossary/b2b-price-list/), which only matter if your store sells that way.

This is one of the [seven reading paths](/learn/). Once the catalog is in order, the next step is to tell machines about it with [structured data](/glossary/structured-data/), and that is the [Structured data](/learn/structured-data/) path.
